- Select the semester of planned enrollment
- Select "University College"
- Select "Online" Learning Center
As a BAS/BLS Online student, you will be assessed tuition at the resident rate, the mandatory technology fee based on your semester hours, and a career services based on your hours of enrollment. You will also be assessed a non-refundable Records & Documents fee of $225.00 during your first term enrolled at the University Iowa. Students admitted to distance education programs are limited to registering in 4 s.h. of on-campus (Iowa City) course work. If you wish to register for more than 4 s.h. of on-campus course work, you will be changed to the Iowa City learning center and assessed tuition rates based on residency and total semester hours of enrollment, plus all mandatory student fees.
Once you are officially registered, you can view your Tuition & Fee assessment in MyUI.
Please visit the Office of the Registrar's website for more information about tuition, fees and residency, including your responsibility for tuition when you drop a course or withdraw.
Additional course enrollment costs
There are some course enrollment costs that are not considered tuition & fees, including (but not limited to):
- The cost of textbooks
- A separate Course Fee will be assessed if the course requires specific materials or resources. Course fees are listed on the MyUI Course Detail page.
Changes in registration after the start of the semester may carry financial implications.
- "Drop" = to terminate enrollment in one or more courses, but to remain enrolled in at least one other course.
- "Withdraw" = to terminate enrollment in all courses (even if enrolled in only one course).
Not attending class or not submitting course work does not constitute a course drop or withdrawal of registration.
When you drop a course or withdraw your registration, you are responsible for knowing:
- your tuition and fees responsibility based on the date you take action
- financial implications to your financial aid

Each semester students must submit a Billing and Payment Student Agreement. This is completed in the Financial Aid & Billing section on MyUI.
Tuition, fees, and other charges are billed through the University Billing Office. Your University Bill (U-Bill) can be accessed by logging into MyUI and selecting Financial Aid header at the top of the page.

Distance and Online Education Scholarships
The Distance and Online Education offers a limited number of scholarships. Priority will be given to Iowa residents who are making satisfactory progress toward their degrees. In addition to degree objective, financial need and academic achievement are taken into account.
Value: $1000
Minimum Requirement: Must be admitted to the Bachelor of Applied Studies (BAS) or Bachelor of Liberal Studies (BLS) degree program. Cumulative 2.75 UI GPA required and a Free Application for Federal Student Aid must be on file with the University of Iowa’s Office of Financial Aid.
Renewable: Nonrenewable, but students can re-apply once per academic year
Number of Scholarships Available: Limited
Deadline:
- Fall semester scholarships: June 1
- Spring semester scholarships: December 1
Carver Scholarship
Minimum Requirement: Full-time students (enrolled in 12+ hours) beginning their junior year in college who have earned 60 semester hours, have a minimum 2.80 cumulative transfer GPA, and overcome unusual barriers to achieve their educational goal.
Renewable: Renewable for Second year or until bachelor’s degree received, whichever comes first, but student must re-apply
Number of Scholarships Available: 20
Deadline: April 1

Robert F. Ray Staff Scholarship
This scholarship supports UI staff members who wish to begin or continue their undergraduate studies at the UI.

Tuition Assistance Program
The Tuition Assistance program also allows eligible staff to apply for financial assistance to help defray the cost of tuition for one college credit course (up to four s.h.).

Students may be eligible for scholarships or grants from other sources. Please review the Office of Admissions and UI Financial Aid websites. Also, look into opportunities for aid through your church, union, cultural association, employer, or credit union.
