Completed grades are listed in an unofficial transcript that is accessible through MyUI. Log in to MyUI and click on the Student Information header at the top of the page. Under Courses and Grades click on Grades. Though it is an unofficial report, the completed grades report is a reflection of official grades on file in the Registrar’s Office.
Grade Point Average (GPA)
Understanding how your GPA is calculated is important information to have. GPA is calculated on the following scale, factoring in both letter grade and credit hours associated with the course. Please see your Degree Audit for minimum GPA requirements to earn your degree. Additional information can be found on the Registrar’s Office website.
Grade points for each semester hour:
A+ = 4.33 A = 4.00 A- = 3.67
B+ = 3.33 B = 3.00 B- = 2.67
C+ = 2.33 C = 2.00 C- = 1.67
D+ = 1.33 D = 1.00 D- = 0.67
F = 0
Not used in computing grade point average:
N = Nonpass
P = Pass
S = Satisfactory
U = Unsatisfactory
The Registrar’s Service Center can provide an official transcript. Request an official transcript through MyUI> Student Information > Transcript Request. Additional information can be found on the Registrar’s Office website.
Grades and Tuition Report by Semester
A report of grades and tuition by semester may be accessed through MyUI > Student Information> Document & Reports>Verifications.
Although it is unofficial, the report can often be used as proof of grades and/or course completion for employer reimbursement, insurance, external scholarship programs or other purposes. Please note, some organizations may require a copy of an official transcript.
Distance course work at the University of Iowa is accessed through Iowa Courses Online (ICON). Within ICON, grades for specific assignments, papers and exams can be accessed. The course grade which appears in MyUI is the official grade on file at the Registrar’s Office. If there is a discrepancy between your final ICON grade and your final grade listed on your student record in MyUI, contact your instructor.
