Offered by the College of Public Health, the Certificate in Public Health may be completed entirely ONLINE. The program is designed to strengthen knowledge and skills in basic public health competencies. Students have up to five years to successfully complete the certificate program.

To earn the ONLINE Certificate in Public Health, students must successfully complete 12
semester hours (s.h.) and maintain a minimum 2.75 GPA on a 4.0 scale in all course work and that the course work is less than 5 years old upon successful completion.

Online Curriculum

Required:

  • MPH:4101 Introduction to Public Health OR MPH:2099 Fundamentals of Public Health
  • EPID:3099 Evidence-Based Public Health Methods (online Summer only)

Select two elective courses:

  • CBH:4105 Introduction to Health Promotion and Disease Prevention (online Fall only)
  • HMP:4000 Introduction to the US Healthcare System (online Summer only)
  • OEH:4240 Global Environmental Health (online Spring only)

 

How to Declare the Certificate

To earn the certificate, a formal Public Health Certificate Application is required, along with a statement of purpose, two reference letters and a resume.
